Savage Lands: A Decent Unity Early Access Survival Game

Lets start off.. its doomed to fail. Savage Lands is a thoroughly OK survival game it offers a fairly decent building system which is closer to The Forest than games like Ark Survival Evolved, placing down blueprints and then dropping off resources until the building is complete, crafting is simple and functional, and while character models are nothing to phone home about, they look alright for a unity project. 2 of the Major problems with Savage Lands is the Lack

Rend : The Best PvP Survival Game on Steam?

Updated Whats the Matter with Rend? —– I did not say the biggest. Around 100 hours from launch Rend has managed to capture a CCU of 4.9k, not an extremely high number to be honest, but its certainly a good start, the servers are active and the communities are friendly, factions work together to accomplish their goals and overall there is a greater feeling of faction/tribe unity on Rend than any survival game I have ever played. Talking the Talk

Fractured Lands : Out of the ruins, out from the wreckage

Read Review to the sweet sounds of Tina Turner singing “We dont need another hero” Can’t make the same mistakes this time. Fractured Lands is a dollar too much and a day too late, the days of paid Early Access Battle Royale games is gone, we have all been burned too many times, multiplayer only games need to launch free or super cheap to build a player base, F2P with a event/battle pass or cosmetics is a far better model

Escape from Tarkov: A Second Look July 2018

I am in love. I enjoy post Apoc games, and mil-sims and this combines both in such a unique and awesome way I am unsure anything can compare to it, Dayz is a lot of fun, but the graphics feel slightly aged, 7 Days to Die has a lot of looking, but is a bit of a grind, the lobby based gameplay feels amazing, the combat is based on skill and not grind, I have begun a match with only

Island of Nyne : The Unreal Asset Store Threw up

Unreal Asset Store had a baby.. an ugly baby. I understand games need to use pre-built assets, but the trend of sci fi games to bring in other era and call it some sort of reservation, arena, zone, habitat annoys me, so many of the buildings in Nyne feel they don’t belong, i would have preferred a smaller map filled with buildings that looked space age, vs a larger map with a mismatch of random asset pack buildings. Islands of

Seeds of Resilience: Another Awful Unity Survival Game?

Feels like we have been here before. Unity Early Access Survival Games are dime a dozen and frankly they normally suck, I had yet to find a Unity Survival Game (excluding Rust) which was actually any good ,that is until now. Something New. Seeds of resilience is not your standard survival game, you don’t craft yourself grass pants and you don’t run around picking up things with E instead, it uses a turn based formula which his rather unique and

Survive the Nights: The Race has not yet begun.

The Most Curious of Releases. Survive the Nights is currently in unlisted early access on Steam, it’s not a beta, it’s not even a public alpha, i struggle to understand what  people expect from a game that is so early on his development cycle most games are not even viewed by the media at this stage. Scamming Lazy Devs taking forever, Cash Grab! Yes the developers are taking awhile, but so what? good games take time and while the game

Darkwood : Scary Beyond all Reason.

Well that was Terrifying. Darkwood is mind numbingly horrible, the graphics look like something from a Mega Drive, and the soundtrack mostly consists of incredibly scary music overlaid with demonic rasping, but it works and when I say works, I mean works as well as peanut butter chocolate works.. the Reeses Peanut Butter cup of gaming is here. The game play takes the form of a top-down exploration based survival game, which isn’t as common these days as it used

Band of Defenders : A Fantastic Failure

It deserved a kinder Fate. Band of Defenders sucks if you take only into account the steam charts CCU, with 0 online as i write this and a high of 3, its clearly not a success, the funny thing is.. its really not that bad, the Developers didn’t over price the game, nor is the quality poor, the selection of weapons and towers is fairly vast and there is very little if any lag problems. Why did it Die? It

Battle Royale: Survivors

This is where the fun begins.. I don’t say this too often about games as I believe people are often far too hard on indie developers, but Battle Royale:Survivors is absolutely rubbish. Camera & Controls act drunk at best and impossible at worst, the combat often set my camera spinning around in a dizzying fashion, The cone of vision mechanic is interesting, but it’s kind of ridiculous at the same time, real people easily see objects to their left or

Life is Feudal Forest Village : More Banished than Exiled.

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery What can I say? it’s a slightly prettier Banished, the gameplay isn’t bad, but it isn’t amazing, the graphics are ok, but they’re not fantastic, the user interface is ripped right from Banished, it feels literally 95% the same the game. So If i own Banished? Due to being 95% the same if you own Banished there is literally no reason to purchase this game. If you don’t own Banished this game

Subsistence: Rust Clone or Something Better?

Rust without Rust? Subsistence is basically Rust with only one developer, less content and one trick up it’s sleeve, ¬†if you play early access survival games and you have played¬†Subsistence you know it’s nothing new to the genre, it’s pretty much ABC-123 of Survival Games, so I won’t go into all that, The one trick it does have up its sleeve is NPC Hunters, AI who attack your base, this isn’t common in survival games which normally focus on building
